Twitter Updates from 10 Downing Street

One of the more exciting elements of our meeting at the UK Prime Minister’s office was the ability to live-tweet the event (see a Storify summary of tweets after the jump). Our meeting was the first of its kind in this way – the first meeting with unrestricted access to posting on the Web. Such fundamental transparency is an essential element of achieving legitimate progress in opening government – but many government organizations around the globe are still resistant to this very basic change. We are grateful for this highly symbolic gesture from the Number 10 – one that shows a willingness to engage the public in the important conversation about the evolving nature of discourse between citizens and government.
