At Open Data Now @ NYC, hosted by the GovLab at NYU, Joel Gurin, senior advisor to the GovLab, will highlight findings from his book and describe how Open Data is driving innovation in the private and public sectors. He will also preview the findings of the Open Data 500, the GovLab project to study companies that use Open Data as a key business resource. Beth Noveck, Founder and Director of the GovLab, will explain how the GovLab is promoting new approaches to government, technology, and civic engagement.
We will also have a lightning round of short presentations from New York City companies that are building businesses, and helping the public, with Open Data on health, finance, and other areas. This is an evening to celebrate Open Data, learn about its power, and network with leaders of New York’s growing Open Data movement. (Copies of Open Data Now will be available for purchase.)
