On December 11, 2020, ten teams made up of citizens and public servants from the municipalities of Hermosillo, Reynosa, San Pedro Garza García, San Nicolás de las  Garzas and Torreón presented ten co-created proposals that aim to solve key problems in their cities.

The presentation was part of the Multi-City Challenge Mexico (MCC), an initiative led by The Governance Lab at New York University Tandon School of Engineering in collaboration with five municipalities in Northern Mexico to co-create innovative public policies with the community. The MCC supports the municipalities of Hermosillo, Reynosa, San Pedro, San Nicolás and Torreón in taking advantage of the unique knowledge possessed by citizens to design and implement public policies and programs that benefit citizens and solve urban challenges.

The teams presented to the Advisory Council the results of five weeks of training workshop and individualized mentoring for the development of prototypes. The objective: to test the winning ideas for the subsequent development of pilots that validate and scale them into viable solutions.

The MCC model included training for public servants to assist them in articulating the ten challenges on which the open challenge was based. A total of 237 citizen proposals were received. The proposals with the highest number of votes were evaluated by a panel of experts. The ten winning proposals, two per municipality, are those that participated in the 5-week training that culminated with Demo Day. The implementation of the pilot projects in the municipalities will be carried out in the first semester of 2021.
